Hello there! I am a self-taught software engineer and full stack web developer. I attended San Jose State University on a Piano Performance Scholarship and graduated in 2010 with a English Literature degree. I held multiple management positions in the hospitality field for seven years before discovering my passion for coding. I spent over a year learning and exploring different technologies and eventually decided to enroll in a coding bootcamp to hone my skills where I learned three full technology stacks within three months. Since then, i have spent the last year and a half working as a free-lance developer working on projects as well as honing my skills.

I have a passion for learning and I have discovered coding gives me the same sense of wonder that music has for my entire life. Currently, I am looking for a role with a great team that will provide me with a chance to expand my developing skills and give me the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way.

Personal Projects

  • Helps users prioritize their tasks by providing a multitude of resources (videos, articles, links).
  • Created in 10 hours with a team of three. Implemented the YouTube APIs and custom search options.
  • Wrote all Back-End code that made use of the YouTube API to retrieve and display the results of the query made by user.
  • Created a query filter of "how to" for each search.
  • Created the carousel display for video results.
  • What I learned: How to collaberate with a small team to build a project in a short amount of time. Strengthened my knowledge of using RESTful APIs to GET, POST, PUT and DELETE data that was used in making the site.
  • Made with Python, Django, jQuery, Materialize, NGINX, CSS, mySQL, Google Custom Search, YouTube and Facebook Login API.
  • Deployed using AWS.
  • Python Hack-a-thon First Place Award.

  • Created in 10 hours with a team of four. iOS Hack-a-thon First Place Award.
  • A unique alarm that enables the user to wake up by utilizing Apple’s Core Motion.
  • The alarm does not stop until the user rotates the device based on a randomly generated prompt.
  • What I learned: Strengthened my knowlede of Swift and Xcode. How to trigger events in Xcode using Apple's Core Motion.
  • Made with Swift & Xcode.
  • iOS Hack-a-thon First Place Award.

  • Wedding website built from sctratch (Front-End and Back-End).
  • Visited by approximately 150 people.
  • Guests we able to RSVP, view and book local hotels, read information about activities to do locally and visit the couples' registry.
  • What I learned: Gained a lot of experience in Front-End development as well as working closly with a client to build based on their specifications in a timely manner.
  • Made with Python, Django, NGINX, HTML, CSS, Gunicorn and JavaScript.
  • Deployed using AWS.

Barry's Berries

  • Children’s game built for iOS.
  • The player has a limited amount of time to find all of the berries generated randomly using the iOS Mapkit.
  • The game is won if time does not expire and the player finds more good berries than bad.
  • Created a timed event that would trigger a pop-up that would display either a "Happy Barry Face" if a good berry was selected and a "Sick Barry Face" if a bad berry was selected.
  • Created a filter for Mapkit so that the displayed points of interest would be "kid-friendly."
  • What I learned: How to use iOS Mapkit to retreive user's location and other points of interest in user's area.
  • Made with Swift & Xcode
  • iOS Hack-a-thon First Place Award.

  • Keyboard and Synth Player in a band of four.
  • Self-managed.
  • Featured on Sirius XM and Alt Nation 105.3.
  • Similar to a start-up, there is a lot of trial and error, competition, investment, a lot of work, and collaboration.

This Website!

  • Made with Python, SCSS, HTML, NGINX, Gunicorn, Django, JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Deployed using AWS.
  • What I learned: Strengthened knowledge of Python/Django as well as deployment using AWS. Implementation and editing of a Bootstrap design template to fit my desired specifications.

Outside of software engineering, I enjoy camping and backpacking around the Bay Area as well as making annual trips to Yosemite. I also love to dive into a good fantasy novel (Rothfuss and Sanderson are my current favorites) as well as binging on a good tv show.
